The lyrics from Queen's We Are the Champions...or perhaps the "winners" would be more appropriate for how we played our game tonight. We had finally gotten a victory and not just a tie with our opponents. Before the game started our team warmed up by stretching and getting more of our members familiar with handling the ball. to be more specific, the women on our team practiced catching the ball with our eyes open, while in motion, and from long distances. I still have issues with throwing the ball in a semi-spiral manner. It's a good thing I don't have to be a quarter back in the real world, because I would get pummeled and it wouldn't be pretty. Injuries this time were less than a few previous games. I caught the ball, which was a good thing, but my arm felt like jello afterward. But, "What doesn't kill yo...only makes you stronger." And on a female play I missed the catch and the ball hit a guy on the opponent's team in the groin...who was standing on the side lines. I felt a little remorse for the guy, but it faded quickly.
I can say from experience, indoor turf burns hurt a lot more than real grass burns. since we had such a good turn out for woman players, when we were on offense, Richie (the captain) made it a point to have all or most of us out on the field for a different strategy to off-set our opponents. It seemed to work because we beat them by a lot...the score was 46:6. All of our players made great plays, interceptions, tags, and overall had a wonderful sense fo team unity. We scored a lot in the first half...thank goodness for football being a man's sport! here's our team tonight minus some members who wer not present to see the victory.
*Pictures to come.
