Splashing in the Streets, Singing

Singing in the rain, just singiiiiinnnnnggggg in the rain....

Well, Becky got back after working out as usual. Then she said she would take the dogs out real quick. I'm thinking to myself..."okay she's just going to take them out and then come back in." Nope, I was wrong...she was taking them to the dog park, and offered if I wanted to come along. and of course I did. As we're getting ready to leave the apartment, I notice that the sky is getting pretty dark and a cool breeze had come up. As I race out with socked and shoes in tow to catch up with her and the boys, I feel as though I should have grabbed an umbrella as I reach the front door. The sky had become a mix of pink tones and gray. And being from Iowa, I know that is is perfect weather for tornadoes in New Jersey, but I'm still a bit uneasy. I have Gizmo and Becky with Wally and we're headed to the dog park. As we walk along, the thunder gets closer and I can see the bolts of lightning coming down in the distance. The rain drops still haven't descended upon us, but the breeze grew colder with each step.

We arrive at the dog park but the sight of people are very far and few between. Gizmo and I catch up with Becky and Wally where he has befriended a man who was out and about just taking in the sights. As we turn around to start our journey home, the rain droplets begin to fall. First just a couple, then slowly to a few more, then we are sprinkled with more rain. We turn a corner to start a quicker page home, and then the rain becomes a down pour, slowly drenching our clothes, socks and shoes. All the while Becky is singing to a song entitled: "Naked in the Rain" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers and waving her arms with no care in the world. She even stated, "This is what I needed." and I'm thinking, "Are you kidding me? It's raining, I'm wearing my glasses, I can't see a think, and we're drenched." It's a good thing I managed to pick a gray shirt and match my under garments too. Or things could have been a bit more awkward. As we near the apartment the rain increases it's decent onto the world and is a full-on down pour. Even more soaking and drenched we decide to let the dogs in, out of the rain, and dance in the rain. just for the sake of being ambitious and spontaneous. and since I'm already soaking wet and a little more rain won't hurt my shoes and socks, I agree to this crazy notion. as we're dancing the guys in the Kitchen Cafe, located below our apartment, motions us over so that we can get their bike out of the rain. We oblige and then continue with our rain dance. An other bright idea comes into our minds....let's get a picture of this. So we run up stairs, close the windows (which have been open for the whole time we've been out--with water all over the floor), and grab my camera. We ask one of the guys from the Cafe to take our picture while we dance and splash around and so he does. After two pictures are taken we stepped in and looked at them to see if they need to be re-taken.

As we leave the restaurant, I turn the door knob, and the door will not move for anything. I checked the door know before we left and it was unlocked, but now we were locked out with no keys, no phones....nothing. I try to get the fire escape ladder down with an umbrella with a curved handle and a chair, but the handle was not made well because once I pulled down on it, then the handle broke off. Opps! My bad. Then we decide to walk over to Becky's old building to get her set of extra keys. Well...funny thing is, Ryan, the guy that lives below us must have come home while we were looking at the pictures and locked the door behind him. and so we're walking over, we can see that Ryan's light is on. Becky yells and finally he comes to the window. He eventually lets us back into the building and we are sopping wed and make a huge mess as we slosh up the stairs. We clean up the mess and change out of our drenched clothes and make dinner. WOW...what an eventful evening!
