Funny Friday Fiascos
Today has been a pretty interesting day. We got up and Aunt Marla jane took us out to breakfast at the cafe, which we live above and can always smell the aromas from the kitchen during the day. we headed to the pharmacy to get some eyebrow removal stuff for Aunt Marla Jane, but when we were there, we couldn't find the stuff that Becky's has experience using. Then it dawned on Becky that at her hair styling place, they do eyebrow waxes. The day was actually really nice compared to all the other days...the sun was out, you could see the sky, and there was even a nice cool breeze coming off the Bay. We scheduled an appointment for Aunt Marla Jane and an appointment for Becky to get her hair cut and styled. here's the kicker of the morning. We walked
back to
the apartment and I was looking down the street where we had parked my Aunt's car and noticed that it was gone. Then I, of course casually asked, "Did you move your car this morning?"
My Aunt replies, "No, why do you ask?"
I point in the direction in the direct of where the car used to be and her gaze follows where my hand is pointing. Becky, Aunt Marla Jane, and I stroll down the street and just stare at the empty parking spot...then realize the sign hanging on a near by post...it reads: "Emergency NO PARKING: 06/08/06 to 06/08...7am to 6pm." So we stand there talking amongst ourselves about how today is the 9th of June and not the 8th of June, so the car...should really still be there. There are tire tracks on the pavement and they lead into a muddy driveway, where there are 3 guys sitting at a table wearing t-shirts and jeans. Becky asks one of the guys about the sign...and he tells us that it was towed because the sign's
up for their construction project. And of course we go into detail about how today is the 9th of June and that the sign says for the 8th of June. Well if only we had read the sign a little more in detail and read the end date: 06/08/07 for 2007. That really made us feel good about our literary skills. None of us realized the '07' on the sign. We had to get back to the apartment and to the Post Office to get things mailed. So there wasn't any time before the appointments to get the proper information about the car and to where it was towed.
The appointment was at noon. We arrived and I took multiple pictures of Aunt Marla Jane getting her eyebrows waxed. Then she splurged and opted for the manicure. This was the first manicure she had ever gotten in her whole life. SO...I took numerous pictures. All the while, Becky is getting her hair cut and styled.
Then I decided to get my 'brows done and after Becky's hair is done, then she decides to get hers done. So the 3 of us all got our brows done. After our lengthy time back home and take some pictures of where the car was and the tracks left in it's spot. Becky calls the Parking Authority for information on the missing vehicle. Every time she is transferred to a different person, they all have the same response, "Oh...the handicapped car?" I guess they must have all gotten a kick out of the fact that they had to tow a handicapped car to the impound lot. My Aunt & Becky take a cab to get there and they return with the car...yay for getting it BACK!
The rest of the afternoon was spent by loking stuff up on the internet, Becky picking up things in the apartment, and my Aunt reading a very addicting book, Angels and Demons. We made Salsa Verde (yum!) for dinner accompanied by cocktails (Spiced Rum & Diet Coke). Yay for a fun filled Friday.
*Pictures to come.
