The age old phrase, "XYZ."
Some days, I find myself surprised to find that my fly has been down all morning and I haven't even noticed it until I visit the restroom before lunch. Yesterday would be a prime example. I wore a pair of dress pants, which are only worn when I haven't washed a majority of my work clothes. They have 3 buttons; 1 on the inside, then 2 decorative buttons on the outside which act as a "belt." And of course the zipper. Since a majority of my pants/jeans/slacks just have one button and zipper. Most of yesterday was spent double checking the zipper. The appropriate phrase would have been, "Hey, XYZ." With my job...I'm everyone else's reminder system for the office...could you remind me in a few days? or Send me an e-mail reminder about that meeting I have over lunch...and so on. I've found myself lashing out [with IT'S NOT MY JOB!] toward those around me when someone may ask, "Do we have any batteries?" or "Could you remind me later?" Then I realize that I'm not at work and should just answer their question.
If my career should take a different path in the future, I'm going to be more understanding/empathetic about people in this position within any company. It's a job which most people forget takes a lot of time and diligence to keep an office running. It's definitely an unrecognized position/field.
Back to the grind stone...and yay for a 3 day weekend!
