A Holiday, A Heritage, A Hiccup

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day. A holiday, which doesn't bring me to an excited state of going out to get the traditional green beer or sing Irish songs in a local pub.

I'm 100% Korean. There isn't an ounce of Irish blood coursing through my veins. However, it's been said that Koreans are the Irish of Asia. I'm not sure if this is a compliment or an insult. Whether it's a stereotype of being strong tempered, loud, and or having a high tolerance for alcohol. It's a strange accusation.

Grade school through middle school, I opted to wear some small, tiny form of green, just to avoid getting pinched. This is a crazy holiday, where people do crazy things, and drink themselves silly. Do school children even learn about the historical value of this holiday or is it another holiday created by a card company/party supply store to profit from people looking to show off their heritage in bright kelly green and shamrocks??
