Pug, Pekingese, and People
So my days are spend aking up in the morning and then going to bed at night. I usually wake up to the butling sounds of the city. The usn streams in through two windows facing the east toward the city. usually I find myself in be with Wally snoozing by my side and sometimes I find Gizmo at my side. Today seemed like one of the last few days, but I cleaned up the apartment and organized some things. My cousin had an appointment in the city otday, so I went to the Trinity Church located at the entrance of Wall Street. The inside was beautiful. The seats had crimson maroon felt cushions, high arch ways with three large lenghts of fabric. Each long fabric strip was a primary color and started at the entrance way and ended high above the alter. I walked out into the court/grave yard and the tomb stones were amazing. If you stop and take a long look at some of them, you cna see how time and weather have effected each one of them. The typeface on some are hardly recognizable, with only a few lines which are legible. The thought of having something so peaceful and green in the middle of the big city is unbelievable. But the landscaping is kept up, with a fence at the back, and roses of different colors and sizes.
Later we strolled down to Wall Street. I've never see the New York Stock Exchange before, but it was wonderful. sitting on the steps of where George Washington took his oath of office. While looking at the statue and at the NY Stock Exchange, I was told that usually there are camouflage National Guard men carrying machine guns who stand in front of the building. But today was different and there were no machine clad men...thank goodness. Also another thing about New York City is that there is a distinct
difference between business people and everybody else. Business people wear suits with long sleeved jackets. Wall Street business people wear white collared shirts with their dark suits. If a man or woman wears any other color of shirt with their suits, it's frowned upon by those working on Wall Street. Everybody else wears everything and anything made under the sun. While walking in the City, I saw a young lady with bright magenta hair. Definitely something I wouldn't see unless I was in Iowa City. Also there was a guy who had two mohawks and they were different colors. I didn't even know someone could have two mohawks on the same head. Anyway, today was a very nice day here in the city.
