Memoirs. Memories. Moments.
2008 has been quite a year for me. I started 2008 with a new job and I cannot believe that it's been over a year now, since I started. This year brought new discoveries, new friends, and some new family members.
In the transition between January and February, Rosie, a woman whom I had known as another grandmother figure passed away. It was hard to bear, but if that pain hadn't killed me then, it made me stronger for this fall when her daughter Judy passed away from cancer. As the year progressed, the start of what I will call the "wedding craze" began. In March, I was a bridesmaid in my friend Cathy's wedding, then the following weekend, I was a bridesmaid in my friend Kayla's wedding. April and May were pretty wet from the harshest winter I've ever lived through.
June brought a flood that wiped out most of the down town buildings of my home town. The company I work for is located in the down town area, so we were displaced for 50 days or 10 weeks straight, and crammed into my boss's front room/dining room. We had 10 people sharing 6 tables with: our computer monitors/towers and several servers packed into only those two rooms. We were more than happy to return to our office, post flood. It's quite a miracle that we didn't kill each other in such a small space.
Throughout the rest of the year, I attended 4 more weddings. Four of my close friends from high school, three cousins, two close friends from college, and my Aunt...all got married this year.
Some self actualization occurred in December. After reading, "He's Just Not That Into You" by Greg Behrendt & Liz Tuccillo, I became more aware of how much time spent on wondering about the guys that were "just not that into me" and cut those stings loose. My favorite phrase from the book, "Don't waste the pretty." I also started reading the Twilight books and am in the middle of the third, entitled, "Eclipse". A handful of my friends recommended that I read them...and I'm now hooked.
Goodbye 2008! Hello 2009!
