Today, I went to 9th Street Market in East village for brunch with Sophie, Ed, and their friend Stanley. We left for brunch in the city around 11am and then arrived around 11:40am. Before arriving to the restaurant, both Stanley and I were briefed about the proper way to approach the door. First we were supposed to put our names on a list and stand a good distance away from it and wait patiently to be called. To get into this restaurant you must have your name (and number of your party) on the list and you must wait for your name to be called. If you go up to the door, or try to get in the door, or stand too close to the entrance, or ask when the next table will be available, the owner will cross your name off the list. After that statement we were both hesitant about even looking at the door when we arrived. Sophie put our names on the list and then a very tall man said, "how many? four, we can seat you now." Sophie motions for us to follow her and we do. I was preparing myself to wait in the sun for an open table. As we move into the restaurant, it's the smallest place, I've ever seen! It's the size of a small apartment with tables, chairs, and menus.
Our food was amazing and they gave it a very nice presentation. On their menu they have a beverage option of "Leaded or Unleaded coffee." I didn't ask about what made it leaded or even unleaded...either sounded too much like the options I would get if I were to fill my car with gasoline. Then I heard that my cousin's been known to take pictures of coffee cups at a very close rance...and I had to tell them that I was the originator and that my cousin only started that after I stayed with her the previous summer. I say, "If you can't be originally creative on your own, then you should at least give credit to those who can be." If you can't do that then you don't deserve to be in that kind of light. After I spent the summer of 2006 with her, she then went out and bought a very small digital camera to carry around with her...that was brought on by me.
