I Bid You (New York City) A Dieu

All I can hear is the song from The Sound of Music, So Long, Farewell:

There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple too
And up in the nursery an absurd little bird
Is popping out to say "cuckoo"
Cuckoo, cuckoo

Regretfully they tell us Cuckoo, cuckoo
But firmly they compel us Cuckoo, cuckoo
To say goodbye...
....to you

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, good night
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight

So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen, adieu
Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye
I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye - Goodbye!

Tonight is my final night here in Jersey City for what seems to be forever (only 9 months) until I return next summer. Rebecca and I went out to Amelia's for one last dinner together. Forgetting that it's Tuesday, Glenn was not working...which was a bit depressing...maybe he'll still be working there when I come back. The thought of having (in Rebecca's words), "The Last Supper", was very sad. All day I feathered pictures in Photoshop to make 3 different collages for a card I gave Rebecca tonight. I also went out and purchased a bamboo plant with three stalks for her table as a thank you present for housing me all summer. some how i was off my rocker when I got my tickets online for my trip home....have a flight which leaves at 6 AM...not the best decision. I guess I'll go back to the place I was getting away from, Iowa. Rebecca told me yesterday that I've changed enough that it's noticeable...from the day I arrived to now. I'm happy about that since I know everyone else who was abroad had their own adventures and grew in those experiences while others had to find themselves in the familiar home-life.

I then told her, "I'm going to be considered rude when I go home, but I really don't care what they think."

"You said that like a true New Yorker," replied Rebecca.

It's like I'm going back to the simple life. Away from the hustle and bustle of having New York City just one Path train stop away. I will miss all the people I've met here greatly, but I know I'll probably see the important ones again soon. Copy that, over and out.
